Stat. tit. 47, § 47-2-101","heading":"Creation of Department of Public Safety and Office of","body":"Commissioner of Public Safety - Powers and authority - Chief officer\n\n- Services for Governor and Lieutenant Governor.\n\n(a) A department of the government of this state to be known as\n\nthe \"Department of Public Safety\" is hereby created, and offices for\n\nthe Department shall be furnished by the Office of Management and\n\nEnterprise Services. The Department of Public Safety shall be under\n\nthe control and supervision of the Commissioner of Public Safety,\n\nwhich office and position is hereby created.\n\nThe Commissioner shall have such powers and authority as may be\n\ngranted by the provisions of the Uniform Vehicle Code or as may\n\notherwise be provided by law.\n\n(b) The Governor shall be the chief officer of the Department\n\nof Public Safety and the Commissioner of Public Safety shall execute\n\nthe lawful orders of the Governor and shall be responsible to him\n\nfor the operation and administration of said Department. The\n\nCommissioner of Public Safety shall provide personal security and\n\nprotection, transportation, and communications capabilities for the\n\nGovernor, the Governor's immediate family, and the Lieutenant\n\nGovernor. The Commissioner is authorized to provide necessary\n\ncommunications equipment to said persons even if said persons are\n\nnot on state property or in state vehicles. The Commissioner of\n\nPublic Safety is hereby authorized to purchase or lease and equip\n\nmotor vehicles for the use of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.\n\nThe purchase or lease price of any such motor vehicles and equipment\n\nshall be paid from any appropriation for motor vehicles made to the\n\nDepartment of Public Safety.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6229de38a9375a46c8c53f46f80cb743e971ee33bfb1488f155dbe8356d4b3c1","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-19-211","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-2-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
