Stat. tit. 47, § 47-2-124","heading":"Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems Division -","body":"Creation.\n\nA. There is hereby created within the Department of Public\n\nSafety an Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems\n\nDivision.\n\nB. The Division shall:\n\n1. Operate and maintain an on-line, realtime computer system\n\nand a statewide law enforcement data communication network;\n\n2. Utilize and distribute information on vehicle registration,\n\ndriver records, criminals and the commission of crimes;\n\n3. Be responsible for the coordination of user agencies with\n\nthe National Crime Information Center in Washington, D.C., and the\n\nNational Law Enforcement Telecommunication System, or its successor;\n\n4. Be the central access and control point for Oklahoma's\n\ninput, retrieval and exchange of law enforcement information in the\n\nNational Crime Information Center and the National Law Enforcement\n\nTelecommunication System; and\n\n5. Provide user agencies a data communication network, in order\n\nto exchange and distribute law enforcement data rapidly, and\n\ntraining in the use of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement\n\nTelecommunication Systems.\n\nC. The statewide law enforcement data communications network\n\nshall be a part of the Oklahoma Government Telecommunications\n\nNetwork (OGTN) created in Section 34.23 of Title 62 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes; provided, however, the Department of Public Safety may\n\ncontinue to operate, maintain and enhance the statewide law\n\nenforcement data communications network; provided, however, the\n\nDepartment of Public Safety shall submit all plans for the\n\nenhancement of the statewide law enforcement communications network\n\nto the Office of Management and Enterprise Services for review and\n\napproval. The Department of Public Safety shall participate with\n\nthe Office of Management and Enterprise Services in joint efforts to\n\nprovide services for the OGTN.\n\nD. All criminal justice agencies disseminating criminal history\n\ninformation derived from the National Crime Information Center's\n\ncriminal history file shall maintain a record of dissemination in\n\naccordance with federal law as well as rules promulgated by the\n\nNational Crime Information Center and the Commissioner of Public\n\nSafety.\n\nE. The Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems\n\nDivision shall have the authority to audit state and local law\n\nenforcement and criminal justice agencies to ensure compliance with\n\nfederal laws as well as rules of the Department of Public Safety\n\nwhich pertain to the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunication\n\nSystems.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"993c116c33fbed71a53a932e18b4bee0b2ce4d5aca5c34788dfa2bbefe082edc","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-2-123","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-2-124.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
