A commissioned officer of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol\n\nDivision of the Department of Public Safety shall be entitled to\n\nreceive upon retirement, by reason of length of service or physical\n\ndisability, the continued custody and possession of the sidearm and\n\nbadge carried by the retired officer immediately prior to\n\nretirement. In addition to the sidearm carried by the retired\n\nofficer immediately prior to retirement, the retired officer may\n\npurchase the rifle or shotgun, or both, issued to the retired\n\nofficer immediately prior to retirement. The cost to the retired\n\nofficer of purchasing the weapon or weapons shall be the price the\n\nDepartment paid at the time of purchase, and upon payment of that\n\nprice, the retired officer shall be entitled to ownership of the\n\nweapon or weapons. Any records regarding the ownership of each\n\nweapon transferred shall be modified to reflect the transfer to the\n\nretired officer. Proceeds from the purchase of the weapon or\n\nweapons shall be deposited in the Department of Public Safety\n\nRevolving Fund.\n\nB. A commissioned officer of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol\n\nDivision of the Department of Public Safety shall be entitled to\n\nreceive, upon retirement, the continued custody and possession of\n\nthe official license plate issued for the vehicle that was assigned\n\nto the retired officer immediately prior to retirement, provided the\n\nlicense plate shall not be placed on any motor vehicle. The\n\nprovisions of this subsection shall apply to any officer retiring on\n\nor after April 1, 1993, if the official license plate is available.\n\nC. Custody and possession of the sidearm, one complete uniform,\n\nbadge and official license plate of a commissioned officer of the\n\nOklahoma Highway Patrol Division of the Department of Public Safety\n\nwho dies during his or her appointment may be awarded by the\n\nCommissioner to the spouse or next of kin of the deceased officer,\n\nprovided the license plate shall not be placed on any motor vehicle.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2ce0b7b67966f05782fae63f9ff5437dd4dda0e785136d47bfba9c73baf641f0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-2-147","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-2-300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
