Stat. tit. 47, § 47-561","heading":"Necessity for regulation - Legislative finding","body":"The Legislature finds and declares that the distribution and\n\nsale of new motor vehicles and powersport vehicles in this state\n\nvitally affects the general economy of the state and the public\n\ninterest and the public welfare, and that in order to promote the\n\npublic interest and the public welfare, and in the exercise of its\n\npolice powers, it is necessary to regulate and to license motor\n\nvehicle manufacturers, factories, distributors, and their respective\n\nrepresentatives, new motor vehicle dealers, and powersport vehicle\n\ndealers, and to register salespersons of new motor vehicles and\n\npowersport vehicles doing business in Oklahoma, in order to prevent\n\nfrauds, impositions and other abuses upon its citizens and to\n\nprotect and preserve the investments and properties of the citizens\n\nof this state, and in order to avoid undue control of the\n\nindependent new motor vehicle dealer or powersport vehicle dealer by\n\nthe new motor vehicle or powersport vehicle manufacturing and\n\ndistributing organizations, and in order to foster and keep alive\n\nvigorous and healthy competition by prohibiting unfair practices by\n\nwhich fair and honest competition is destroyed or prevented, and to\n\nprotect the public against the creation or perpetuation of\n\nmonopolies and practices detrimental to the public welfare, to\n\nprevent the practice of requiring the buying of special features,\n\nappliances and equipment not desired or requested by the purchaser,\n\nto prevent false and misleading advertising, to prevent unfair\n\npractices by new motor vehicle dealers , powersports vehicle\n\ndealers, manufacturers, factories, and distributing organizations,\n\nto promote the public safety and prevent disruption of the franchise\n\nor dealership system of distribution of new motor vehicles and\n\npowersports vehicles to the public and prevent deterioration of\n\nfacilities for servicing new motor vehicles or powersport vehicles\n\nand keeping the same safe and properly functioning, and prevent\n\nbankrupting of new motor vehicle dealers and powersport dealers, who\n\nmight otherwise be caused to fail because of such unfair practices.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"65eeb9151d158f0f281fcf478627ec3cb3de413bd607730787c3cd62cb85c924","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-438","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-562"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
