Stat. tit. 47, § 47-6-119","heading":"Physical or mental conditions hazardous to public safety","body":"- Physical and/or psychological examination - Renewal - Retesting.\n\nA. When Service Oklahoma has good cause to believe that a\n\nlicensee or applicant for license to drive a motor vehicle may be\n\nafflicted with any physical or mental ailment or condition including\n\ndiabetes which may cause loss of control or partial control or may\n\notherwise be incapable of properly controlling a motor vehicle, or\n\nwhen a licensee's or applicant's accident or violation record\n\nindicates the licensee or applicant may be a hazard to public\n\nsafety, Service Oklahoma is hereby authorized to require the\n\nlicensee or applicant to submit to a physical and/or psychological\n\nexamination as prescribed by Service Oklahoma based upon\n\nrecommendations of the Driver License Medical Advisory Committee or\n\nits selected representative, and/or complete a driver improvement\n\nschool, and/or be examined again as provided by Section 6-110 of\n\nthis title. All physical and/or mental examinations shall be\n\nconducted in the county of the residence of the applicant or\n\nlicensee or in the nearest county to the applicant or licensee where\n\nthe examination can be completed. Any driver improvement school or\n\nexamination as provided by Section 6-110 of this title shall be\n\ncompleted in the same location as other applicants or licensees\n\nliving in the same county as the applicant or licensee who is\n\nrequired to complete the school or examination. Unless the\n\nDepartment receives a verified written report as provided for in\n\nsubsection B of this section specifying the need for an examination\n\nof the applicant or licensee, persons afflicted by diabetes shall\n\nnot be required to submit to any additional requirements beyond\n\nthose requirements for a person not affected by diabetes before\n\nreceiving a license or a renewal of a license to operate a motor\n\nvehicle.\n\nB. Every license issued to a person specified in subsection A\n\nof this section shall be renewable upon payment of the required fee;\n\nprovided, Service Oklahoma has not received a report from a law\n\nenforcement officer stating that the person is a hazard to the\n\npublic safety and should be evaluated pursuant to the provisions of\n\nsubsection A of this section or a verified medical report from a\n\nlicensed physician stating that the person is incapable of properly\n\ncontrolling a motor vehicle. If any report indicates that the\n\nphysical or mental ailment or condition has failed to remain stable\n\nor that the condition is progressive to a degree that the person is\n\ndeemed to be a hazard to the public safety or is incapable of\n\nproperly controlling a motor vehicle, Service Oklahoma shall\n\nevaluate the person to determine if additional verified medical\n\nreports shall be required before issuing or renewing any drivers\n\nlicense or during the period a license is valid.\n\nC. Service Oklahoma may require any person specified in\n\nsubsection A of this section to be retested any time prior to such\n\nperson's application for renewal of a license if the Department\n\nreceives a written report from any law enforcement officer, a\n\nverified report from a licensed physician, or a verified report from\n\nsuch other person authorized by Service Oklahoma indicating the\n\nperson's physical or mental ailment or condition has contributed to\n\nan accident or has deteriorated since issuance of the license to\n\nsuch a degree the person could lose control or partial control or\n\nmay otherwise cause such person to be incapable of properly\n\ncontrolling a motor vehicle.","path":["OK Code","Title 47"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os47.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"561b489c21cc01221b54e045d38d141248db127a5bc37be18c1b46a8bcedadcb","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-6-118","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-47-47-6-119a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
