Stat. tit. 47, § 47-7-212","heading":"Duration of suspension","body":"Unless a suspension is terminated under other provisions of this\n\nchapter, any order of suspension by the Department of Public Safety\n\nunder this chapter shall remain in effect and no license shall be\n\nrenewed for or issued to any person whose driving privilege is\n\nsuspended until:\n\n1. The person shall deposit and file or there shall be\n\ndeposited and filed on behalf of the person the security and proof\n\nof financial responsibility required under this chapter, or\n\n2. One (1) year shall have elapsed following the date of the\n\nsuspension and evidence satisfactory to the Department has been\n\nfiled with it that during the one-year period no action for damages\n\narising out of the accident resulting in the suspension has been\n\ninstituted, provided, the person has filed the required proof of\n\nfinancial responsibility.\n\nAn affidavit of the applicant that no action at law for damages\n\narising out of the accident has been filed against him or her or, if\n\nfiled, that it is not still pending shall be prima facie evidence of\n\nthat fact.
