Stat. tit. 49, § 49-112","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Uniform Law on Notarial Acts:\n\n1. \"Notarial acts\" means any act that a notary public of this\n\nstate is authorized to perform, and includes taking an\n\nacknowledgment, administering an oath or affirmation, taking a\n\nverification upon oath or affirmation, witnessing or attesting a\n\nsignature, certifying or attesting a copy, and noting a protest of a\n\nnegotiable instrument.\n\n2. \"Acknowledgment\" means a declaration by a person that the\n\nperson has executed an instrument for the purposes stated therein\n\nand, if the instrument is executed in a representative capacity,\n\nthat the person signed the instrument with proper authority and\n\nexecuted it as the act of the person or entity represented and\n\nidentified therein.\n\n3. \"Verification upon oath or affirmation\" means a declaration\n\nthat a statement is true made by a person upon oath or affirmation.\n\n4. \"In a representative capacity\" means:\n\na. for and on behalf of a corporation, partnership,\n\ntrust, or other entity, as an authorized officer,\n\nagent, partner, trustee, or other representative;\n\nb. as a public officer, personal representative,\n\nguardian, or other representative, in the capacity\n\nrecited in the instrument;\n\nc. as an attorney-in-fact for a principal; or\n\nd. in any other capacity as an authorized representative\n\nof another.\n\n5. \"Notarial officer\" means a notary public or any other person\n\nauthorized to perform notarial acts in the place in which the act is\n\nperformed.","path":["OK Code","Title 49"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os49.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"dca05d0b3efd365bf7d96d22bea21a662b5cc6a4f075427e86595c4c70d50e00","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-49-49-111","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-49-49-113"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
