Before entering upon the duties of his or her office and not\n\nmore than sixty (60) days after issuance of a notary commission,\n\nevery notary public so appointed and commissioned shall file in the\n\noffice of the Secretary of State, the notary’s oath of office, the\n\nnotary’s loyalty oath, the notary’s official signature, an\n\nimpression of the notary’s official seal, and a good and sufficient\n\nbond to the State of Oklahoma, in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars\n\n($10,000.00), to be approved by the Secretary of State, conditioned\n\nfor the faithful performance of the duties of the notary’s office.\n\nB. The bond required by subsection A of this section shall be\n\nsigned by:\n\n1. An insurance agent licensed by the State of Oklahoma;\n\n2. An attorney-in-fact on behalf of an insurance company with a\n\npower of attorney attached; or\n\n3. One or more individual sureties who are property owners in\n\nthe county of residence of the notary, or if a nonresident, the\n\ncounty of employment of the notary.\n\nC. The bond required by subsection A of this section shall be\n\nissued for a term that commences on the bond’s effective date and\n\nterminates on the commission’s expiration date. Upon the filing of\n\nhis or her bond with the Secretary of State, every notary public\n\nshall pay to the Secretary of State the sum of Twenty-five Dollars\n\n($25.00) to be deposited to the credit of the Revolving Fund for the\n\nOffice of the Secretary of State.\n\nD. A notary public shall not perform any notarial act until his\n\nor her bond, official seal, oath of office and loyalty oath, as\n\nrequired by subsection A of this section, have been received and\n\napproved by the Secretary of State.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 4241.
