Stat. tit. 5, § 5-7","heading":"Contingent fee - Limitation on amount - Compromise or","body":"settlement - Effect on lien - Certain contracts void.\n\nIt shall be lawful for an attorney to contract for a percentage\n\nor portion of the proceeds of a client's cause of action or claim\n\nnot to exceed fifty percent (50%) of the net amount of such judgment\n\nas may be recovered, or such compromise as may be made, whether the\n\nsame arises ex contractu or ex delicto, and no compromise or\n\nsettlement entered into by a client without such attorney's consent\n\nshall affect or abrogate the lien provided for in this chapter.\n\nProvided that all such contracts in personal injury or wrongful\n\ndeath cases including, but not restricted to, cases in which\n\njurisdiction is in the Industrial Commission, shall be void and\n\nunenforceable (1) if secured as a result of the intervention of any\n\nlaymen, association, or corporation for compensation, or promise of\n\ncompensation, or anticipation of gift, compensation or hope of\n\nreward, or (2) where any laymen, association or corporation has a\n\ndirect or indirect interest in, or growing out of, any judgment\n\narising out of such claim recovery or compensation from, or\n\nsettlement of any such claim.","path":["OK Code","Title 5"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os5.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"e6e9c7bd8c349c9582ffb6e5b371f0eea7d594d7768224cdc88771c14d10b457","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-5-5-6","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-5-5-8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
