Stat. tit. 5, § 5-8","heading":"Adverse party - Liability on settlement or compromise of","body":"claim involving lien - Lien as against judgment debtor - Enforcement\n\nof lien.\n\nShould the party to any action or proposed action whose interest\n\nis adverse to the client contracting with an attorney settle or\n\ncompromise a cause of action, claim or judgment wherein any lien\n\nperfected under Sections 6 and 7 of this title is involved and such\n\nsettlement or compromise is made without the consent of the attorney\n\nholding such lien, such adverse party shall thereupon become liable\n\nto such attorney for the fee that was due or would have become due\n\nunder a contract of employment but for the settlement. After\n\njudgment in any court of record, the attorney's lien provided for\n\nherein may also be effective against the judgment debtor upon\n\nendorsement of the words \"subject to the attorney's lien in favor of\n\n[insert name]\" on the judgment.
