Stat. tit. 51, § 51-100","heading":"Attorney General - Powers","body":"The Attorney General of the state shall have the power, and he\n\nis hereby authorized and directed whenever complaint has been made\n\nand the names of witnesses furnished him, or whenever he deems\n\nnecessary to issue subpoenas for such witnesses so furnished him,\n\nand for such other persons as he shall have reason to believe to\n\nhave any knowledge of the truth of the complaint made, to cause said\n\nwitnesses to appear before the Attorney General, or any magistrate\n\nor notary public, at the time and place in the county of the accused\n\nofficer's residence, to be designated in the subpoena then and there\n\nto testify concerning the subject matter of such investigation.\n\nEach witness shall be sworn to make true answers to all\n\nquestions propounded to him touching the matter under investigation,\n\nand the testimony of each witness shall be reduced to writing and be\n\nsigned by the witnesses.\n\nThe Attorney General is hereby authorized and empowered to\n\nadminister the necessary oaths and affirmations to such witnesses.\n\nAll witnesses subpoenaed or used by the Attorney General in such\n\nspecial investigation, or upon the hearing of the complaint or\n\npetition in the district court, or the Supreme Court, shall be\n\nentitled to receive the same per diem and mileage as is allowed\n\nwitnesses in the district court of the state, said fees to be paid\n\nby the Attorney General out of any funds of his office available for\n\nsuch purpose.\n\nAny disobedience to such subpoena, or refusal to answer any\n\nproper question propounded by the Attorney General at such inquiry\n\nshall be a misdemeanor, and shall be punished by a fine of not more\n\nthan Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or by imprisonment in the\n\ncounty jail not more than six (6) months, or by both such fine and\n\nimprisonment.","path":["OK Code","Title 51"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os51.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0399c4316f32e4e9390cc7abc44a1b7c1f74b2c618338d9e0c914e761563b76f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-10","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
