Stat. tit. 51, § 51-24A.2","heading":"Public policy - Purpose of act","body":"As the Oklahoma Constitution recognizes and guarantees, all\n\npolitical power is inherent in the people. Thus, it is the public\n\npolicy of the State of Oklahoma that the people are vested with the\n\ninherent right to know and be fully informed about their government.\n\nThe Oklahoma Open Records Act shall not create, directly or\n\nindirectly, any rights of privacy or any remedies for violation of\n\nany rights of privacy; nor shall the Oklahoma Open Records Act,\n\nexcept as specifically set forth in the Oklahoma Open Records Act,\n\nestablish any procedures for protecting any person from release of\n\ninformation contained in public records. The purpose of this act is\n\nto ensure and facilitate the public's right of access to and review\n\nof government records so they may efficiently and intelligently\n\nexercise their inherent political power. The privacy interests of\n\nindividuals are adequately protected in the specific exceptions to\n\nthe Oklahoma Open Records Act or in the statutes which authorize,\n\ncreate or require the records. Except where specific state or\n\nfederal statutes create a confidential privilege, persons who submit\n\ninformation to public bodies have no right to keep this information\n\nfrom public access nor reasonable expectation that this information\n\nwill be kept from public access; provided, the person, agency or\n\npolitical subdivision shall at all times bear the burden of\n\nestablishing such records are protected by such a confidential\n\nprivilege.
