At the sole discretion of the public body, a public body may\n\nkeep personnel records confidential:\n\n1. Which relate to internal personnel investigations including\n\nexamination and selection material for employment, hiring,\n\nappointment, promotion, demotion, discipline or resignation; or\n\n2. Where disclosure would constitute a clearly unwarranted\n\ninvasion of personal privacy such as employee evaluations, payroll\n\ndeductions, employment applications submitted by persons not hired\n\nby the public body and transcripts from institutions of higher\n\neducation maintained in the personnel files of certified public\n\nschool employees; provided, however, that nothing in this subsection\n\nshall be construed to exempt from disclosure the degree obtained and\n\nthe curriculum on the transcripts of certified public school\n\nemployees.\n\nB. All personnel records not specifically falling within the\n\nexceptions provided in subsection A or D of this section shall be\n\navailable for public inspection and copying including, but not\n\nlimited to, records of:\n\n1. An employment application of a person who becomes a public\n\nofficial;\n\n2. The gross receipts of public funds;\n\n3. The dates of employment, title or position; and\n\n4. Any final disciplinary action resulting in loss of pay,\n\nsuspension, demotion of position or termination.\n\nC. Except as may otherwise be made confidential by statute, an\n\nemployee of a public body shall have a right of access to his own\n\npersonnel file.\n\nD. The home addresses, home telephone numbers, Social Security\n\nnumbers, private email addresses, and private mobile phone numbers\n\nof current and former public employees shall not be open to public\n\ninspection or disclosure; provided, however, that nothing in this\n\nsubsection shall be construed to exempt from disclosure public\n\nrecords created using a private email address or private mobile\n\nphone.\n\nE. Except as otherwise required by Section 6-101.16 of Title 70\n\nof the Oklahoma Statutes, public bodies shall keep confidential all\n\nrecords created pursuant to the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader\n\nEffectiveness Evaluation System (TLE) which identify a current or\n\nformer public employee and contain any evaluation, observation or\n\nother TLE record of such employee.","path":["OK Code","Title 51"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os51.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"460b79573ed9f1c124c9baf9f1d72d6a6769a45c2a08acdec59c6a033ae9d610","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-24a.6","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-24a.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
