Stat. tit. 51, § 51-252","heading":"Definitions","body":"In this act:\n\n1. “Demonstrates” means the burdens of going forward with the\n\nevidence and of persuasion under the standard of clear and\n\nconvincing evidence are met;\n\n2. “Exercise of religion” means the exercise of religion under\n\nArticle 1, Section 2, of the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma,\n\nthe Oklahoma Religious Freedom Act, and the First Amendment to the\n\nConstitution of the United States;\n\n3. “Fraudulent claim” means a claim that is dishonest in fact\n\nor that is made principally for a patently improper purpose, such as\n\nto harass the opposing party;\n\n4. “Frivolous claim” means a claim which lacks merit under\n\nexisting law and which cannot be supported by a good faith argument\n\nfor the extension, modification, or reversal of existing law or the\n\nestablishment of new law;\n\n5. “Governmental entity” means any branch, department, agency,\n\nor instrumentality of state government, or any official or other\n\nperson acting under color of state law, or any political subdivision\n\nof this state;\n\n6. “Prevails” means to obtain prevailing party status as\n\ndefined by courts construing the federal Civil Rights Attorney’s\n\nFees Awards Act of 1976, 42 U.S.C. § 1988; and\n\n7. “Substantially burden” means to inhibit or curtail\n\nreligiously motivated practice.","path":["OK Code","Title 51"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os51.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"041e20f26339e69bce4c0381d8fe2ea7d6ad99e1fa7db9947439094b93f9de59","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-251","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-51-51-253"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
