Stat. tit. 52, § 52-149.1","heading":"Oil and gas referees","body":"The Commission is hereby authorized to employ three oil and gas\n\nreferees who shall be in the unclassified service. Any person\n\nfilling the position of oil and gas referee shall be a graduate of\n\nan accredited college or university with a degree in law, geology,\n\npetroleum engineering or similar fields related to hydrocarbon\n\nextraction, or possesses significant experience in the practice of\n\nlaw or the exploration, production or supervision of oil or gas\n\noperations. Each oil and gas referee shall also be familiar with\n\nstate statutes and Commission rules and regulations governing oil\n\nand gas operations. The oil and gas referees shall hear such cases\n\nand exercise such powers as the Commission shall direct. The\n\nCommission may establish such rules and regulations as are necessary\n\nto implement this section.
