Stat. tit. 52, § 52-248","heading":"Declaration of policy","body":"Whereas, agriculture constitutes one of the basic foundations of\n\nthis state, and agricultural production in this state frequently is\n\nrestricted and curtailed by reason of shortage of rainfall and could\n\nbe increased and rendered more stable by irrigation, and, whereas,\n\nin many areas of the state in which surface water resources are\n\ninadequate to afford dependable and adequate sources of water for\n\nirrigation, there also exist ample subsurface reservoirs of water at\n\nsuch depths that they may be pumped successfully for irrigation only\n\nby use of an assured and adequate source of power, which is not\n\navailable from commercial sources in rural neighborhoods, and,\n\nwhereas, in many such areas there exist developed deposits of\n\nnatural gas from which such power could be obtained, it is hereby\n\ndeclared and enacted that the use of natural gas on the premises\n\nfrom which it is produced to pump to the surface water to be used\n\nfor irrigation on such premises is a preferred use, prior in order\n\nto all other uses which such gas may be devoted.","path":["OK Code","Title 52"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os52.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f98938b413378e40bdf2a43b781d6f8b2fe2dc2da011b2b812bce646af291884","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-52-52-247","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-52-52-249"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
