Stat. tit. 52, § 52-602","heading":"Legislative intent","body":"The Legislature recognizes that hydrocarbons are a limited\n\nnatural resource and that their exploration, production and\n\ndevelopment contribute significantly to the general welfare of the\n\npeople of the State of Oklahoma through the creation of jobs, the\n\ndevelopment of economic growth and stability, and the collection of\n\ngross production taxes, petroleum excise taxes, and other sources of\n\nrevenue.\n\nTherefore, the Legislature finds it is in the public interest to\n\nprotect its energy resource assets from transfers that may retard\n\nthe timely and efficient development of such assets, or transfers\n\nthat may interfere with the production, sale, purchase, refining or\n\nprocessing, delivery, transportation or transmission of hydrocarbons\n\nor hydrocarbon products gathered or produced for sale, purchase,\n\nrefining or processing, delivery, transport, transmission or use\n\npursuant to existing contracts within this state. The Legislature\n\nfurther finds it is in the public interest to encourage orderly\n\nfuture exploration, development, production, refining, processing,\n\ntransportation, or transmission of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon\n\nproducts gathered or produced within the state, to conserve and\n\nprevent waste of energy resource assets, to protect correlative\n\nrights in underground mineral resources, and to protect and preserve\n\nsources of tax revenue derived from the orderly and efficient\n\ndevelopment, management and production of the state's energy\n\nresource assets.","path":["OK Code","Title 52"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os52.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"102b3ff630875b3e5e05e6fb72b13cd5b4c6dafc8a2a2480c5bdac36e1431c97","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-52-52-601","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-52-52-603"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
