Stat. tit. 53, § 53-1.3","heading":"Duties","body":"It shall be the duty of the Oklahoma Historical Society to:\n\n1. Collect, purchase, catalog, store, preserve, conserve and\n\nmaintain books, maps, photographs, newspapers, records, reports,\n\nmanuscripts, charts, paintings, three-dimensional artifacts and\n\nother materials germane to the history of Oklahoma, the Indian and\n\nthe West;\n\n2. Gather and utilize collected materials to create\n\ninterpretive exhibits illustrative of the history of Oklahoma, the\n\nUnited States and the world in the Oklahoma Museum of History and at\n\nother assigned museums and historic sites;\n\n3. Prepare and publish materials relative to the history of the\n\nState of Oklahoma. Such materials may be offered for sale to the\n\npublic at museums and historic sites operated by the Society;\n\n4. Prepare and publish matters relating to the Society's\n\ntransactions and research as may be useful to its membership and the\n\npublic. Such publications shall include an annual report of its\n\ncollections;\n\n5. Develop an oral history program for the State of Oklahoma\n\ndesigned to promote the preservation and utilization of oral history\n\nwithin the state concerning significant elements of the social,\n\npolitical, economic, cultural, educational, ethnic and military\n\nhistory of the geographical area now known as the State of Oklahoma;\n\ntranscribe, index, catalog and maintain the results of these\n\ninterviews to make them readily available to the public and\n\nhistorical researchers;\n\n6. Develop an educational program for the purpose of making\n\navailable to schools and the public information pertaining to the\n\nhistory of Oklahoma through the utilization of collections and\n\nproperties held by the Society. Reasonable charges may be made for\n\nthe dissemination of any such facts or information; and\n\n7.
