In addition to other powers and duties specified by law, the\n\nOklahoma Historical Society shall have the power and duty to:\n\n1. Acquire by gift, devise, purchase or otherwise, absolutely\n\nor in trust, and to hold any real property or real estate or other\n\ninterest therein as may be necessary in carrying into effect the\n\npurpose of the Oklahoma Historical Preservation Act.\n\n2. Enter into contracts and to execute all instruments\n\nnecessary to fulfill its duties, respecting the protection,\n\npreservation, maintenance and operation of such historic buildings,\n\nsites and/or objects as it may select.\n\n3. Correlate and preserve drawings, plans, photographs and\n\nother data of historic and archaeologic sites, buildings and\n\nobjects.\n\n4. Make surveys of historic and archaeologic sites, buildings\n\nand objects for the purpose of determining which possesses\n\nexceptional value as commemorating or relating to the history of\n\nOklahoma.\n\n5. Make necessary investigations and research in Oklahoma\n\nrelating to particular sites, buildings or objects to obtain true\n\nand accurate historical and archaeological facts and information\n\nconcerning such sites, buildings or objects.\n\n6. Contract and make cooperative agreements with\n\nmunicipalities, corporations, associations and individuals, with\n\nproper bond where deemed advisable to protect, preserve, maintain or\n\noperate any historic or archaeologic building, site, object or\n\nproperty used in connection therewith for public use, regardless\n\nwhether the title thereto is in the State of Oklahoma. No contract\n\nor cooperative agreement shall be made or entered into which will\n\nobligate the General Revenue Fund of the State Treasury unless or\n\nuntil the Legislature has appropriated sufficient monies for such\n\npurpose.\n\n7. Restore, reconstruct, rehabilitate, preserve and maintain\n\nhistoric or prehistoric sites, buildings, objects and properties of\n\nhistorical and archaeological significance and where deemed\n\ndesirable establish and maintain museums in connection therewith.\n\n8. Operate and manage historic and archaeologic sites,\n\nbuildings and properties acquired under the provisions of the\n\nOklahoma Historical Preservation Act, together with lands and\n\nsubordinate buildings for the benefit of the public, such authority\n\nto include the power to charge reasonable visitation fees and grant\n\nconcessions, leases or permits for the use of land, building space,\n\nroads or trails when necessary or desirable either to accommodate\n\nthe public or to facilitate administration; provided, that such\n\nconcessions, leases or permits shall be granted only after\n\ncompetitive bids to the person making the highest and best bid.\n\n9. Organize a corporation under the laws of this state when it\n\nwould be administratively burdensome to restore, reconstruct,\n\noperate or maintain any particular historic or archaeologic site,\n\nbuilding or property donated to the state.\n\nB.
