Stat. tit. 53, § 53-1.9","heading":"Title to locally-owned historical or recreational site -","body":"Approval of funding.\n\nThe title to any locally owned historic or recreational site or\n\nimprovements thereon shall not be acquired by or conferred to the\n\nOklahoma Historical Society to qualify for state funding without\n\nprior approval of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.\n\nBefore such approval is given, proposals for acquisitions shall be\n\nmade to the Board ofDirectors of the Oklahoma Historical Society.\n\nWithin sixty (60) days after receiving a proposal, the Board of\n\nDirectors shall have a study made of the proposed acquisition. The\n\nstudy shall evaluate the historical background and significance of\n\nthe property, the educational value of the property, the\n\naccessibility of the property to the public, and any other factors\n\nthe Board of Directors deems pertinent. The study shall also\n\ninclude an estimate of the cost of restoring the property if\n\nrestoration is necessary, an estimate of the cost of providing\n\naccess to the property if additional access is necessary, and an\n\nestimate of the cost of operating and maintaining the property for\n\nat least five (5) fiscal years subsequent to the proposed date of\n\nacquisition of the property. A written report of the results of the\n\nstudy shall be submitted by the Board of Directors to the Historic\n\nPreservation Review Committee appointed by the Governor to comply\n\nwith rules and procedures prescribed by the Secretary of the\n\nInterior pursuant to Public Law 89-665. The Historic Preservation\n\nReview Committee, or its successor, shall evaluate the results of\n\nthe study and shall submit, within thirty (30) days of receiving the\n\nreport, a written recommendation to the Speaker of the House,\n\nPresident Pro Tempore of the Senate, and Governor as to the\n\nadvisability of the acquisition.","path":["OK Code","Title 53"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os53.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4e1d208423ff01b5a4669cfc2871d4933e607ac2411c8d77e753042dbc5e835e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-53-53-1.8","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-53-53-161"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
