Stat. tit. 53, § 53-166","heading":"Powers and duties","body":"The Oklahoma Arts Council shall be responsible for the\n\nacquisition, exhibition, management and care of the State Art\n\nCollection and is empowered and directed to exercise these powers\n\nand duties:\n\n(a) Consider the whole state of the arts, cultural activities\n\nand cultural heritage of Oklahoma. The purview of the Council shall\n\nnot be limited but shall include music, theater, dance, opera,\n\ngraphic arts, plastic arts, architecture, poetry, plays or any other\n\nart, regardless of period, school or type. Full attention shall\n\nalso be given to art, art museums, live performances or concerts,\n\nart exhibits and other like endeavors.\n\n(b) Survey the artistic and cultural activities and facilities\n\nof the state, and the institutions, organizations or individuals\n\nengaged in these undertakings.\n\n(c) Study information collected and prepare proposals for the\n\nstudy, practice and presentation of the arts.\n\n(d) Foster conferences, institutes and exhibits on the arts and\n\nhold or cooperate in such ventures.\n\n(e) Report biennially to the Governor and Legislature on or\n\nbefore January 31 of each odd-numbered year. Reports shall include\n\nrecommendations and suggestions for the expansion and improvement of\n\nthe arts and for wider opportunity of participation in these\n\nactivities by our citizens.\n\n(f) Publish any reports, surveys, news bulletins or other\n\nmaterials pertaining to its findings, recommendations and work.\n\n(g) Perform or engage in all else necessary or desirable to give\n\nfull force and effect to the provisions of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 53"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os53.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2e6e91f5d0e839d518d98b753832022f90342ccd44f260d36354be06dcc14ba1","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-53-53-165","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-53-53-167"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
