Stat. tit. 53, § 53-201C","heading":"Salaries and duties of employees - Executive director –","body":"Protection of artifacts - Agreements or contracts.\n\nA. The J.M. Davis Memorial Commission shall have power and\n\nauthority to:\n\n1. Appoint and to fix the salaries and duties of the\n\nprofessional and administrative employees and curators as may be\n\nnecessary to carry out the purpose of this act;\n\n2. Appoint an executive director who shall serve at the\n\npleasure of the Commission. A member of the Commission may be\n\nappointed as the executive director; provided, if a member of the\n\nCommission is so appointed, the member shall resign as a member of\n\nthe Commission and the vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as\n\nare original appointments;\n\n3. Provide for the proper housing, protection and display of\n\nthe J.M. Davis Gun Collection and other historical artifacts; and\n\n4. Enter into contracts for services to be performed in\n\nfurtherance of the authorized activities and duties of the J.M.\n\nDavis Memorial Commission with other state agencies or nonprofit\n\ncorporations holding a valid exemption from taxation issued pursuant\n\nto Section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended,\n\nand listed as an exempt organization in Section 501(c)(3) of the\n\nInternal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, or with individuals or\n\nassociations pursuant to statutory requirements.\n\nB. Funds of the J.M. Davis Memorial Commission shall not be\n\napplied, donated, or used directly or indirectly for the use,\n\nbenefit, or support of any sect, church, denomination, or system of\n\nreligion, or for the use, benefit, or support of any priest,\n\npreacher, minister, or other religious teacher or dignitary, or\n\nsectarian institution as such. The J.M. Davis Memorial Commission\n\nshall provide opportunity to organizations to submit written\n\napplications to be received and acted upon by the J.M. Davis\n\nMemorial Commission. At the conclusion of the contract, each state\n\nagency, nonprofit corporation, individual, or association shall\n\nprovide the J.M. Davis Memorial Commission with proof of fulfillment\n\nof the contract in proper order and must be affirmed on the proper\n\nform, provided by the J.M. Davis Memorial Commission, by the\n\nmanaging officers of the state agency, nonprofit group, association,\n\nor individual making the contract.\n\nC.
