This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Oklahoma\n\nPharmacy Connection Program”.\n\nB. Initial implementation of the program shall target senior\n\ncitizens and shall utilize the existing toll-free Senior Info-Line\n\ntelephone number for senior citizen services.\n\nC. The purpose of the Oklahoma Pharmacy Connection Program\n\nshall be to improve access to prescription drugs for citizens who\n\nhave no or inadequate health insurance or other resources for the\n\npurchase of medically necessary prescription drugs by:\n\n1. Providing a clearinghouse to assist citizens of this state\n\nto access manufacturer-sponsored prescription drug assistance\n\nprograms for which they are or may be eligible;\n\n2. Disseminating information about and advertising the program\n\nthat will assist citizens with purchasing prescription drugs at a\n\nlower cost;\n\n3. Assisting citizens with accessing pharmaceutical discount or\n\ninsurance programs that may be of benefit to them;\n\n4. Serving as a resource for pharmaceutical benefit issues; and\n\n5. Implementing additional strategies to assist citizens to\n\naccess prescription drugs as appropriate.\n\nD. For the purposes of the Oklahoma Pharmacy Connection\n\nProgram, \"manufacturer-sponsored prescription drug assistance\n\nprogram\" means a program offered by a pharmaceutical company through\n\nwhich the company provides a drug or drugs to eligible persons at no\n\ncharge or at a substantially reduced cost.
