As used in this act, \"hospice care\" means a comprehensive,\n\nholistic program of palliative and/or comfort care and support\n\nprovided to the member and his or her family when a physician\n\ncertifies that the member has a terminal illness and has a life\n\nexpectancy of six (6) months or less.\n\n1. Hospice services must be related to the palliation and\n\nmanagement of the member's illness, symptom control, or to enable\n\nthe individual to maintain activities of daily living and basic\n\nfunctional skills; and\n\n2. Hospice care is performed under the direction of a physician\n\nas per the member's plan of care in an approved hospital hospice\n\nfacility, in-home hospice program, or nursing facility.\n\nB. 1. Coverage for hospice services shall be provided to all\n\nMedicaid eligible members.\n\n2. Hospice care eligibility requires physician certification\n\nthat the member is terminally ill and includes a medical prognosis\n\nwith a life expectancy of six (6) months or less if the illness runs\n\nits normal course.
