Oklahoma has a successful home- and community-based services\n\nprogram known as the ADvantage Waiver Program for the frail, elderly\n\nand adults with physical disabilities age twenty-one (21) and over\n\nwho do not have an intellectual disability nor a cognitive\n\nimpairment. The ADvantage Waiver Program provides the following\n\nservices: case management, transitional case management, personal\n\ncare, advanced supportive/restorative, skilled nursing - home health\n\nsetting, RN assessment evaluation, occupational therapy, physical\n\ntherapy, respiratory therapy, speech/language therapy, adult day\n\nhealth, personal care in adult day health, therapy in adult day\n\nhealth, home-delivered meals, NF extended respite, in-home respite,\n\nin-home extended respite, environmental modifications, hospice,\n\nconsumer-directed personal care assistant services and supports,\n\nassisted living, and specialized medical equipment and supplies;\n\n2. Many Oklahomans who could safely stay at home with cost-\n\neffective home- and community-based services go into nursing\n\nfacilities the day assistance is needed because their eligibility\n\nfor nursing facility supports is \"presumed\" by the nursing facility,\n\nwhile eligibility for home and community supports can take weeks or\n\nmonths. If their circumstances are such that they need immediate or\n\nurgent care, they lose their choice to live and receive their\n\nservices at home. Once they are in a nursing facility, they may\n\nlose their home or the supports they need to stay at home; and\n\n3.
