Stat. tit. 56, § 56-199","heading":"Visual or optometric services - Free choice of","body":"practitioner and profession.\n\nWhenever visual or optometric services within the lawful scope\n\nof practice of a duly licensed optometrist are included in any\n\nprogram financed with public funds or administered by any public\n\nagency, for aid to the indigent, the aged, the legally blind, or any\n\nother group or class, the recipient of such aid or his parent or\n\nguardian shall be entitled to choose whether such services are to be\n\nperformed by a duly licensed optometrist or by a duly licensed\n\nphysician who shall be equally compensated. Visual or optometric\n\nservices as used herein shall include eye and/or visual examination\n\nor a correction of any vision or muscular anomaly and the supplying\n\nof ophthalmic materials, including contact lenses and subnormal\n\nvision aids. And in the expenditure of public funds for any purpose\n\ninvolving the care of human vision, or in the administration of any\n\npublic program, the public agency and its employees including school\n\ndistricts and other state, county and municipal agencies or any\n\nsubdivision of the State of Oklahoma and its employees and agents\n\nresponsible for such expenditures or services shall not, under any\n\ncircumstances, in informing a person requiring vision care, or for a\n\ncorrection of any vision or muscular anomaly, either directly or\n\nindirectly refer such person to any particular health discipline,\n\nbut shall merely advise such person the need exists for professional\n\nservices.","path":["OK Code","Title 56"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os56.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6fc4f3a46aa3e5d8f2f0016e29b19ce6121a1995e6cef385b51bc77d88ffbf7c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-198.9","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-199.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
