The Commission for Rehabilitation Services shall:\n\n1. Promote the coordination of efforts and services on behalf\n\nof the deaf and hard-of-hearing;\n\n2. Inventory the various services available for meeting the\n\nproblems of the deaf and hard-of-hearing and assist persons in\n\nlocating and securing such services;\n\n3. Collect studies, compile bibliographies, gather information\n\nand conduct research with respect to the education, training,\n\ncounseling, placement and social and economic adjustment of the deaf\n\nand hard-of-hearing and with respect to the causes, diagnosis,\n\ntreatment and methods of prevention of impaired hearing;\n\n4. Keep informed of and cooperate with federal, state and local\n\nprograms available for the improvement of the general welfare of\n\ndeaf and hard-of-hearing persons;\n\n5. Appoint advisory or special committees when appropriate for\n\nin-depth investigations and study of particular problems and to\n\nreceive reports of findings and recommendations; and\n\n6. Make recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature\n\nwith respect to modifications in existing services or establishment\n\nof additional services for deaf or hard-of-hearing persons.\n\nB. 1. Personal client information obtained or created in the\n\ncourse of providing services to persons who are deaf or hard-of-\n\nhearing pursuant to this section shall be confidential. Such\n\ninformation shall include, but is not limited to, the client's name;\n\nwork or home address; work or home telephone number; and social\n\nsecurity number.\n\n2. Persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing have the same\n\nlegitimate expectations of privacy in the conduct of their daily\n\nlives as do persons who can hear. As a result, information obtained\n\nor created in the course of providing interpreter services pursuant\n\nto this section shall be confidential to the extent necessary to\n\nprotect those expectations. Confidential information related to\n\ninterpreter services shall include, but is not limited to, personal\n\nclient information; the purpose for which the client requests\n\ninterpretation; the entity with which the client communicates by way\n\nof an interpreter; the date, time, location and duration of the\n\ninterpreted communication; and the name of the interpreter.","path":["OK Code","Title 56"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os56.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"0208455f8ea3f309d951874bb6a15f41cd8542a0228f285e4df50de5d993a656","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-199","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-199.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
