Stat. tit. 56, § 56-232","heading":"Public Welfare Commission - Notice and information to","body":"district attorney.\n\nIt shall be the duty of the Oklahoma Public Welfare Commission,\n\nits director, its agents and employees, in all cases where\n\napplication is made for aid for neglected and dependent children to\n\nascertain as to whether or not the need for such aid arises from the\n\nwillful desertion or abandonment of said children by the person or\n\npersons obligated by law to provide for said children, and if said\n\nchildren are willfully abandoned or neglected by the person or\n\npersons required by law to support said children, to report the same\n\nto the district attorney of the county in which said children\n\nreside, and to furnish the district attorney with the names of\n\nwitnesses and all information which they may have that the district\n\nattorney may require for the purpose of prosecuting the person or\n\npersons obligated by law to support such children under the criminal\n\nstatutes of this state, and to require the applicant to request the\n\ndistrict attorney of the county to file criminal charges against the\n\nperson or persons legally responsible for the support of such child\n\nor children, and cooperate fully in prosecuting such charges to\n\ncompletion when filed by the district attorney, within three (3)\n\nmonths from the day of application in order to be eligible for\n\nfurther assistance payments.","path":["OK Code","Title 56"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os56.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a286595582200284ef441a150a3a3ef8a9da963663083b35b2a56813c6e4cc40","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-231","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-56-56-233"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
