Except as otherwise provided by subsection B of this\n\nsection, the Department of Human Services is authorized to make the\n\nnecessary funeral arrangements and pay any reasonable burial\n\nexpenses incurred upon the death of a child or an individual with\n\nintellectual disability who is either in the custody of the\n\nDepartment or is a resident of an institution under the jurisdiction\n\nof the Department. When possible, the Department shall make such\n\narrangements with any funeral home located in the same vicinity as\n\nthe institution or in the same vicinity of the place of residence or\n\nhome town of the child or the individual with intellectual\n\ndisability.\n\nB.
