Stat. tit. 57, § 57-15","heading":"When a poor convict is held for fine and costs","body":"When any poor convict shall have been confined in any prison for\n\nthe space of six (6) months, for nonpayment of fine and costs only,\n\nor either of them, the sheriff of the county in which such person\n\nshall be imprisoned shall make a report thereof to any two justices\n\nof the peace for such county; if required by such justices, the said\n\nkeeper shall bring such convict before them, either at the prison,\n\nor at such other convenient place thereto as they shall direct; the\n\nsaid justices shall proceed to inquire into the truth of said\n\nreport, and if they shall be satisfied that the report is true, and\n\nthe convict has not had since his conviction any estate, real or\n\npersonal, with which he could have paid the sum for the nonpayment\n\nof which he was committed, they shall make a certificate thereof to\n\nthe sheriff of the county, and direct him to discharge such convict\n\nfrom prison and the sheriff shall forthwith discharge him.","path":["OK Code","Title 57"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os57.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"693bd16399f326f243d759ec5fd6b88697c8b8cbc9865b23ebe10b761a29a75c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-14","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-16"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
