Stat. tit. 57, § 57-216","heading":"Definitions","body":"In this act, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n1. \"Director\" shall mean the Director of the Department of\n\nCorrections.\n\n2. \"Public works project\" means a project that has been\n\ndetermined by the State Board of Corrections to be of necessity for\n\nthe public well-being conducive to rehabilitation and the reduction\n\nof recidivism among participating inmates by the written request of\n\na majority of the board of county commissioners, the governing body\n\nof any municipality or any agency of the State of Oklahoma or of the\n\nUnited States or any subdivision thereof.\n\n3. \"Prisoner\" shall mean any person who is under the custody\n\nand control of the Department of Corrections. No prisoner shall be\n\nassigned to any public works project if the inmate:\n\na. is deemed by the Director to be a threat to public\n\nsafety,\n\nb. has escaped or attempted to escape from a correctional\n\ninstitution within the last ten (10) years, or\n\nc. has been convicted, whether upon a verdict or plea of\n\nguilty or upon a plea of nolo contendere, or received\n\na suspended sentence or any probationary term for a\n\ncrime or an attempt to commit a crime provided for in\n\nSection 843.5 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes if\n\nthe offense involved sexual abuse or sexual\n\nexploitation as those terms are defined in Section 1-\n\n1-105 of Title 10A of the Oklahoma Statutes or Section\n\n741, 843.1, if the offense included sexual abuse or\n\nsexual exploitation, 865 through 869, 885, 886, 888,\n\n891, 1021, 1021.2, 1021.3, 1040.13a, 1040.51, 1087,\n\n1088, 1111.1, 1114 or 1123 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 57"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os57.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"09c9a5a700d46c02ee964d447c43f4daedd81df9592635cb8a81f389d9e1d678","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-215","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-217"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
