Stat. tit. 57, § 57-400","heading":"Acute psychiatric care units","body":"The Department of Corrections is hereby authorized to establish\n\nunits at one or more institutions for the care and treatment of\n\ninmates who are or become in need of acute psychiatric care. The\n\nDepartment shall have the following powers and duties in the\n\noperation thereof:\n\n1. The Department shall establish procedures to outline means\n\nof identification of inmates who are or become in need of acute\n\npsychiatric care and for assignment of such inmates to the units\n\ndescribed in this subsection. Prior to assignment there shall be a\n\ndue process hearing conducted by the Department of Corrections to\n\ndetermine whether the inmate is in need of acute psychiatric care.\n\nThe inmate shall be entitled to have a staff representative\n\nappointed to represent the inmate, if he or she so requests, but\n\nshall not have an attorney appointed or paid by the Department to\n\nrepresent the inmate at the administrative hearing; and\n\n2.
