Stat. tit. 57, § 57-502","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in this title, unless the context otherwise requires:\n\n1. “Board” means the State Board of Corrections;\n\n2. “Department” means the Department of Corrections of this\n\nstate;\n\n3. “Director” means the Director of the Department of\n\nCorrections;\n\n4. “Halfway house” means a private facility for the placement\n\nof inmates in a community setting for the purpose of reintegrating\n\ninto the community inmates who are nearing their release dates. The\n\nterm shall not include private prisons;\n\n5. “Institutions” means the Oklahoma State Penitentiary located\n\nat McAlester, Oklahoma; the Oklahoma State Reformatory located at\n\nGranite, Oklahoma; the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center\n\nlocated at Lexington, Oklahoma; the Joseph Harp Correctional Center\n\nlocated at Lexington, Oklahoma; the Jackie Brannon Correctional\n\nCenter located at McAlester, Oklahoma; the Howard McLeod\n\nCorrectional Center located at Atoka, Oklahoma; the Mack H. Alford\n\nCorrectional Center located at Stringtown, Oklahoma; the Jim E.\n\nHamilton Correctional Center located at Hodgen, Oklahoma; the Mabel\n\nBassett Correctional Center located at McLoud, Oklahoma; the R.B.\n\n“Dick” Conner Correctional Center located at Hominy, Oklahoma; the\n\nJames Crabtree Correctional Center located at Helena, Oklahoma; the\n\nJess Dunn Correctional Center located at Taft, Oklahoma; the John\n\nLilley Correctional Center located at Boley, Oklahoma; the William\n\nS. Key Correctional Center located at Fort Supply, Oklahoma; the Dr.\n\nEddie Warrior Correctional Center located at Taft, Oklahoma; the\n\nNortheast Oklahoma Community Corrections Center located at Vinita,\n\nOklahoma; the Clara Waters and Kate Barnard Community Corrections\n\nCenters located at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; the Community\n\nCorrections Centers located at Lawton, Enid, Oklahoma City and Union\n\nCity; the Charles E. “Bill” Johnson Correctional Center, located\n\neast of Alva, Oklahoma; the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center\n\nlocated at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and other facilities under the\n\njurisdiction and control of the Department of Corrections or\n\nhereafter established by the Department of Corrections;\n\n6. “Intermediate revocation facility” means a corrections\n\ncenter operated by the Department of Corrections or a private\n\nfacility or public trust operating pursuant to contract with the\n\nDepartment of Corrections which provides housing and intensive\n\nprogrammatic services for offenders who have violated the terms or\n\nconditions of probation as determined by a supervising probation\n\nofficer. “Intensive programmatic services” offered by the\n\nDepartment of Corrections includes, but shall not be limited to,\n\nalcohol and substance abuse counseling and treatment, mental health\n\ncounseling and treatment and domestic violence courses and treatment\n\nprograms;\n\n7. “Intermediate sanctions facility” means a community\n\ncorrections center operated by the Department of Corrections or a\n\nprivate facility or public trust operating pursuant to contract with\n\nthe Department of Corrections which provides for the housing and\n\nprogrammatic services of offenders such as probation or parole\n\nviolators or community sentenced offenders placed in the facility\n\nfor disciplinary sanctions, work release offenders, offenders who\n\nneed intensive programmatic services, or offenders who have\n\ndemonstrated positive adjustment while in an institutional setting\n\nwho need additional programmatic services to enhance their reentry\n\ninto society upon release from a prison term; and\n\n8. “Private prison contractor” means:\n\na. a nongovernmental entity or public trust which,\n\npursuant to a contract with the Department of\n\nCorrections, operates an institution within the\n\nDepartment other than a halfway house or intermediate\n\nsanctions facility, or provides for the housing, care,\n\nand control of inmates and performs other functions\n\nrelated to these responsibilities within a minimum,\n“Private prison contractor” means:\n\na. a nongovernmental entity or public trust which,\n\npursuant to a contract with the Department of\n\nCorrections, operates an institution within the\n\nDepartment other than a halfway house or intermediate\n\nsanctions facility, or provides for the housing, care,\n\nand control of inmates and performs other functions\n\nrelated to these responsibilities within a minimum,\n\nmedium, or maximum security level facility not owned\n\nby the Department but operated by the contractor, or\n\nb. a nongovernmental entity or public trust which,\n\npursuant to a contract with the United States or\n\nanother state, provides for the housing, care, and\n\ncontrol of minimum or medium security inmates in the\n\ncustody of the United States or another state, and\n\nperforms other functions related to these\n\nresponsibilities other than a halfway house or\n\nintermediate sanctions facility within a facility\n\nowned or operated by the contractor.","path":["OK Code","Title 57"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os57.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"006104a9525810c6a6451992199ebbe008f01a3c8244c62ee262b9b72862f96c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-501","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
