Stat. tit. 57, § 57-508","heading":"Divisions - Deputy Directors - Compensation -","body":"Qualifications of deputy directors.\n\nThe Director, subject to the approval of the Board, is hereby\n\nauthorized to create divisions within the Department of Corrections\n\nas he may deem appropriate to effectively manage the Department.\n\nThe divisions shall be under the immediate supervision and control\n\nof the Director. The Director is hereby authorized to appoint\n\nDeputy Directors for the divisions of the Department, who shall be\n\nexempt from the Merit System of Personnel Administration Act, and to\n\nfix the salaries and duties thereof; provided, the salary ranges of\n\nsaid Deputy Directors shall be set by the Legislature in the\n\nDepartment’s annual appropriation. The Deputy Directors shall have\n\nat least a master’s degree from an accredited college or university\n\nand at least four (4) years of professional level work experience in\n\ncorrections; or a bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of\n\nwork experience in corrections. Provided, however, that for the\n\nposition of Deputy Director of administrative services, professional\n\nlevel administrative experience may be substituted for work\n\nexperience in corrections.
