The Department of Corrections and the Pardon and Parole\n\nBoard are hereby authorized to use electronic monitoring devices for\n\nany inmate sentenced for a crime, any person granted parole, or as\n\ndisciplinary sanction as authorized by law.\n\nB. The electronic monitoring of an inmate pursuant to this\n\nsection shall be in addition to active supervision required by law.\n\nAn inmate assigned to electronic monitoring shall be required to pay\n\nthe Department of Corrections or the Pardon and Parole Board for all\n\nor part of any monitoring equipment or fee, supervision cost, or\n\nother costs while assigned to electronic monitoring. The Department\n\nof Corrections or the Pardon and Parole Board shall determine\n\nwhether the person has the ability to pay all or part of such costs\n\nor fee.\n\nC. From and after the effective date of this act, any person in\n\nthe custody of the Department of Corrections who is assigned to a\n\ncommunity corrections center, community work center, or halfway\n\nhouse, and who has any current or previous convictions for a crime\n\nwhich would require the person to register as a sex offender\n\npursuant to the Oklahoma Sex Offenders Registration Act, shall be\n\nassigned to a global position monitoring system for the duration of\n\nthe registration period. Any offender paroled who is subject to the\n\nprovisions of the Oklahoma Sex Offenders Registration Act shall be\n\nassigned to global position monitoring.\n\nD. As used in this section, \"electronic monitoring\" means\n\nmonitoring of an inmate within a specified location or locations by\n\nmeans of a global positioning device approved by the Department of\n\nCorrections or the Pardon and Parole Board with active supervision\n\nby correctional officers, employees of the Department of\n\nCorrections, or probation and parole officers of the Pardon and\n\nParole Board. A global position monitoring system must utilize a\n\nbackup data storage collection system.\n\nE.
