Stat. tit. 57, § 57-510.6a","heading":"Correctional teachers or vocational instructors -","body":"Salary and fringe benefits - Nonteaching administrators - Pay\n\nraises.\n\nA. Persons certified to teach in this state and meeting all\n\nminimum qualifications set by the Office of Management and\n\nEnterprise Services, who are hired or employed as correctional\n\nteachers or vocational instructors by the Department of Corrections\n\neducational program, shall receive in salary the minimum amounts\n\nspecified in Section 1 of Enrolled Senate Bill No. 1119 of the 1st\n\nSession of the 59th Oklahoma Legislature multiplied by a factor of\n\n1.20. Correctional teachers serving as lead workers with\n\nsupervisory responsibilities shall receive the minimum amounts\n\nspecified above multiplied by a factor of 1.25. Correctional\n\nteachers who have a special education certificate shall receive\n\nsalary of an additional five percent (5%). Correctional teachers\n\nshall receive the benefits set forth in Sections 1370 and 1707 of\n\nTitle 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes; provided, however, correctional\n\nteachers shall not be eligible for longevity payments pursuant to\n\nSection 840-2.18 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes. Eligible\n\npersons employed as correctional teachers or vocational instructors\n\nby the Department of Corrections shall be entitled to paid maternity\n\nleave as provided for in Section 1 of this act.\n\nB. Persons employed by the Department of Corrections school\n\nsystem as nonteaching administrators shall be in the unclassified\n\nservice and shall not be placed under the classified service;\n\nhowever, any classified employee occupying an administrative\n\nposition prior to July 1, 2000, shall retain the right to remain in\n\nthe classified service. At such time as such position becomes\n\nvacant, it shall be placed in the unclassified service.\n\nC. Except as provided by this section of law, the employment of\n\npersons by the Department of Corrections educational program as\n\nteachers or administrators shall be entirely governed by the\n\nprovisions of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes and any other laws\n\nor rules regarding state employees and their employment; however, no\n\nDepartment of Corrections correctional teacher or vocational\n\ninstructor, whose salary is calculated in accordance with the\n\nprovisions of this section, shall be entitled to receive any pay\n\nincreases for state employees authorized elsewhere in statute, rule,\n\nor law. Correctional teachers or vocational instructors shall\n\nreceive any legislated pay increases granted in addition to the\n\nTitle 70 minimum salary schedule; provided, such increases are given\n\nto all common education/vocational technical teachers.\n\nD. The salaries for all correctional teachers and vocational\n\ninstructors shall be adjusted annually on July 1 unless legislation\n\nauthorizes a pay raise for educators with an implementation date\n\nother than July 1, in which case the annual adjustment shall occur\n\non the date of the pay raise implementation.\n\nE. The monthly salaries of correctional teachers and vocational\n\ninstructors employed by the Department of Corrections on the\n\neffective date of this act will be adjusted according to the\n\nprocedures authorized in subsection A of this section on the first\n\nday of the month following the effective date of this act.\n\nLongevity payments will be eliminated in the month following the\n\neffective date of this act for correctional teachers and vocational\n\ninstructors whose salaries are calculated according to the\n\nprovisions of this section. The salaries of the employees governed\n\nby this section who are employed on the effective date of this act\n\nwill be recalculated. The recalculation will be based on the\n\nprovisions of subsection A of this section for actual time employed\n\nas a Department of Corrections correctional teacher or vocational\n\ninstructor between July 1, 2004, and the last day of the month in\n\nwhich this act becomes effective. Authorized employees will receive\nby this section who are employed on the effective date of this act\n\nwill be recalculated. The recalculation will be based on the\n\nprovisions of subsection A of this section for actual time employed\n\nas a Department of Corrections correctional teacher or vocational\n\ninstructor between July 1, 2004, and the last day of the month in\n\nwhich this act becomes effective.
