Stat. tit. 57, § 57-510.7","heading":"High school equivalency development – Duties of","body":"Department of Corrections.\n\nA. The Department of Corrections shall establish a program to\n\nensure that inmates have an opportunity to achieve at least a high\n\nschool equivalency development level of proficiency in reading,\n\nwriting and computation skills, to the extent resources are\n\navailable. The provisions of this subsection shall apply to all\n\ninmates in the custody of the Department of Corrections, except\n\nthose inmates identified and documented, through the testing\n\nrequirements provided in subsection B of this section, to be\n\nincapable of benefiting from education programs, and except those\n\ninmates who have already achieved a general educational development\n\nlevel of proficiency in reading, writing and computation skills.\n\nB. The Department of Corrections, in fulfilling its duty to\n\nassess the educational and training needs of an inmate as part of\n\nthe assessment and reception process required by Section 530.1 of\n\nthis title, shall administer an examination to determine the\n\neducational proficiency level of the inmate, the existence of any\n\nlearning disabilities, and any other factors relevant to determining\n\nif the inmate is capable of achieving the educational proficiency\n\nlevel established in subsection A of this section and if so, to\n\ndetermine the type of education programs necessary to bring the\n\ninmate to the high school equivalency development level of\n\nproficiency.","path":["OK Code","Title 57"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os57.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8e959d678977f324f49139dd878368837a315dbc3f300c198bba622282747f8d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-510.6a","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-510.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
