Stat. tit. 57, § 57-530.1","heading":"Assessment and reception of inmates - Duties of","body":"Department of Corrections.\n\nA. The Department of Corrections, by the rules of that\n\nDepartment, shall have the following duties which shall be performed\n\nas part of the assessment and reception process of the Department of\n\nCorrections, upon reception of each inmate:\n\n1. To administer, or cause to be administered, physical and\n\npsychological examination of all inmates, including any requirement\n\nto collect biological samples for DNA testing pursuant to Section\n\n991a of Title 22 of the Oklahoma Statutes and Section 150.27a of\n\nTitle 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes, or other provision of law;\n\n2. To identify the vocational-technical skills of all inmates.\n\nThe information shall be noted on and made a part of the record for\n\neach inmate;\n\n3. To assess the educational and training needs of all inmates\n\nand recommend for placement any inmate with an educational need as\n\nestablished in Section 510.7 of this title;\n\n4. To determine from available records and interviews, the\n\nplace of birth of new inmates. The Department of Corrections shall\n\nfurnish a list of foreign-born nationals and suspected foreign-born\n\nnationals to the Immigration and Naturalization Service on a weekly\n\nbasis;\n\n5. To determine initial security and custody classifications;\n\n6. To determine and recommend for placement in an alcohol or\n\nsubstance abuse treatment facility or program, as provided for in\n\nthis section, any inmate in need of alcohol or substance abuse\n\ntreatment;\n\n7. To determine and recommend for placement in the Department\n\nof Corrections Mental Health Unit any inmate who is in need of acute\n\npsychiatric care;\n\n8. To plan for immediate assignments to institutions, community\n\ntreatment centers, alcohol or substance abuse treatment centers or\n\nprograms, alternatives to incarceration authorized by law, or other\n\nfacilities, public or private, designated by the Department;\n\n9. To recommend possible future assignments to institutions,\n\ncommunity treatment centers, alcohol or substance abuse treatment\n\ncenters or programs, alternatives to incarceration authorized by\n\nlaw, or other facilities designated by the Department;\n\n10. To provide orientation and instruction with respect to\n\nrules and procedures for prisoners;\n\n11. To obtain all relevant juvenile court records and relevant\n\nDepartment of Juvenile Justice agency records, if any, pertaining to\n\ninmates and make the records a part of the permanent record\n\nmaintained by the Department of Corrections regarding the inmate.\n\nThe information contained in those records shall be used to\n\ndetermine security level and placement of inmates; and\n\n12. To administer a risk and needs assessment on each inmate\n\nand develop an individualized case plan based on the results of the\n\nassessment to guide an inmate's rehabilitation while in the\n\nDepartment's custody in order to reduce the likelihood of\n\nrecidivism.\n\nB. An alcohol or substance abuse treatment center in which an\n\ninmate is placed shall provide services and standards of treatment\n\nas provided by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse\n\nServices under its rules for alcoholism or substance abuse\n\ntreatment. Upon placement of a prisoner in a center for alcoholism\n\nor substance abuse treatment, the Department of Corrections shall\n\nenter into a third party contract with such center for the custodial\n\nand professional services rendered to any prisoner. Such contract\n\nmay include requirements imposed by law on the Department of\n\nCorrections or reimbursement for such services, if necessary. The\n\nDepartment of Corrections is further authorized to enter into third\n\nparty contracts for substance abuse treatment programs which are\n\ncertified by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse\n\nServices to provide professional services on an outpatient basis to\n\nprisoners in need of substance abuse treatment and follow-up\n\ntreatment while assigned to alternatives to incarceration.\nary. The\n\nDepartment of Corrections is further authorized to enter into third\n\nparty contracts for substance abuse treatment programs which are\n\ncertified by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse\n\nServices to provide professional services on an outpatient basis to\n\nprisoners in need of substance abuse treatment and follow-up\n\ntreatment while assigned to alternatives to incarceration.\n\nC. The Department of Juvenile Justice shall allow reasonable\n\naccess to its database for the purpose of obtaining the juvenile\n\nrecords required by subsection A of this section.\n\nD.
