Stat. tit. 57, § 57-530.3","heading":"Aliens in custody of Department of Corrections -","body":"Identification - Assistance to the United States Department of\n\nJustice.\n\nIt is the intent of the Legislature that the Department of\n\nCorrections vigorously provide assistance to the United States\n\nDepartment of Justice:\n\n1. For the identification of foreign-born nationals who are in\n\nthe custody of the Department of Corrections;\n\n2. In conducting interviews of and processing foreign-born\n\nnationals or suspected foreign-born nationals who are in the custody\n\nof the Department of Corrections; and\n\n3. In conducting and completing the deportation process of\n\ninmates whom the United States Department of Justice determines to\n\nbe aliens deportable from the United States. The Department of\n\nCorrections shall assist the Immigration and Naturalization Service\n\nin obtaining court certified copies of any records requested for use\n\nin official criminal or administrative proceedings.\n\nThe Department of Corrections shall implement rules for the\n\ndetermination of the place of birth of all inmates in the custody of\n\nthe Department. This determination shall be completed by January 1,\n\n1997. Upon completion of this determination, the Department of\n\nCorrections shall report to the Governor, the President Pro Tempore\n\nof the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives how\n\nmany inmates in the custody of the Department are not citizens of\n\nthe United States. The Department of Corrections shall submit\n\nupdated reports to the Governor, the President Pro Tempore of the\n\nSenate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives on a\n\nquarterly basis.\n\nThe Department of Corrections shall also implement rules for the\n\nnotification of the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the\n\nidentity of all inmates in the custody of the Department of\n\nCorrections who are foreign-born nationals or that the Department of\n\nCorrections suspects are foreign-born nationals.
