All persons, businesses and organizations in this state\n\nshall have access to search and identify individual names contained\n\nin the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry and the Mary Rippy Violent\n\nCrime Offenders Registry for purposes of verifying a person’s\n\nsuitability for employment, volunteering, and for screening persons\n\nat risk of potential harm to children who may work with or provide\n\nservices to children by utilizing one or more of the following\n\nmethods:\n\n1. A person may contact the Oklahoma State Bureau of\n\nInvestigation, complete a form and pay the required fees for a name\n\nsearch of both the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry and the Mary Rippy\n\nViolent Crime Offenders Registry and, if desired, search other\n\ncriminal history records pertaining to the person upon payment of\n\nthe required fees;\n\n2. A person may conduct a free self-initiated search of both\n\nthe Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry and the Mary Rippy Violent Crime\n\nOffenders Registry using a computer-Internet link to connect to a\n\nstate-agency-controlled database containing the names of all persons\n\ncurrently registered on the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry and the\n\nMary Rippy Violent Crime Offenders Registry; or\n\n3. A person may contact either their local law enforcement\n\nagency or the Department of Corrections, complete the form and pay\n\nthe required fees for a name search of both the Oklahoma Sex\n\nOffender Registry and the Mary Rippy Violent Crime Offenders\n\nRegistry.\n\nB. The Department of Corrections shall develop the necessary\n\npolicies, procedures, forms and data access to make the provisions\n\nof this section effective statewide and may publish web sites or\n\nother information to assist the public in learning where and how to\n\nconduct a name search of the two registries authorized in this\n\nsection. The information provided in a name search shall include\n\nthe searched person’s full name, any alias names, the crime which\n\nrequires registration, and whether the person is deemed a habitual\n\nor aggravated offender. In addition, information may be provided in\n\nthe name search concerning the date and place of the offense, the\n\nsentence disposition, a photograph of the registered person, and\n\nother pertinent information including the current residence\n\nlocation. There shall be no liability to any governmental agency\n\nfor the release or publication of any information maintained on the\n\nOklahoma Sex Offender Registry or the Mary Rippy Violent Crime\n\nOffenders Registry under this section authorizing public access to a\n\nname search for purposes of risk of potential harm to a child by a\n\ncaregiver or for suitability for employment.","path":["OK Code","Title 57"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os57.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f40b8d6aa29d550431d18a3134047c7ddf200ab28a848926ea6a78727d8d602e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-599","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-57-57-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
