Stat. tit. 57, § 57-614","heading":"Faith-based programs - Legislative findings and intent -","body":"Duties of Department of Corrections and private correctional\n\nfacilities.\n\nThe Legislature finds and declares that faith-based programs\n\noffered in state and private correctional institutions and\n\nfacilities have the potential to facilitate inmate institutional\n\nadjustment, to help inmates assume personal responsibility, and to\n\nreduce recidivism. It is the intent of the Legislature that the\n\nDepartment of Corrections and private vendors operating private\n\ncorrectional facilities work towards ensuring the availability and\n\ndevelopment of such programs at the correctional institutions and\n\nfacilities of this state and shall continuously:\n\n1. Measure recidivism rates for all inmates participating in\n\nfaith-based or religious programs at the correctional institution or\n\nfacility;\n\n2. Work with volunteers ministering to inmates from various\n\nfaith-based institutions in this state to improve the quality of\n\nfaith-based programs at the correctional institution or facility;\n\n3. Continue to develop community linkages with churches,\n\nsynagogues, mosques, and other faith-based institutions to assist in\n\nthe release of participants into the community; and\n\n4.
