Stat. tit. 58, § 58-3026","heading":"Construction of authority generally","body":"Except as otherwise provided in the power of attorney, by\n\nexecuting a power of attorney that incorporates by reference a\n\nsubject described in Sections 27 through 40 of this act or that\n\ngrants to an agent authority to do all acts that a principal could\n\ndo pursuant to subsection C of Section 24 of this act, a principal\n\nauthorizes the agent, with respect to that subject, to:\n\n1. Demand, receive and obtain by litigation or otherwise, money\n\nor another thing of value to which the principal is, may become or\n\nclaims to be entitled, and conserve, invest, disburse or use\n\nanything so received or obtained for the purposes intended;\n\n2. Contract in any manner with any person, on terms agreeable\n\nto the agent, to accomplish a purpose of a transaction and perform,\n\nrescind, cancel, terminate, reform, restate, release or modify the\n\ncontract or another contract made by or on behalf of the principal;\n\n3. Execute, acknowledge, seal, deliver, file or record any\n\ninstrument or communication the agent considers desirable to\n\naccomplish a purpose of a transaction, including creating at any\n\ntime a schedule listing some or all of the principal's property and\n\nattaching it to the power of attorney;\n\n4. Initiate, participate in or submit to alternative dispute\n\nresolution, and settle, oppose, or propose or accept a compromise\n\nwith respect to a claim existing in favor of or against the\n\nprincipal or intervene in litigation relating to the claim;\n\n5. Seek on the principal's behalf the assistance of a court or\n\nother governmental agency to carry out an act authorized in the\n\npower of attorney;\n\n6. Engage, compensate and discharge an attorney, accountant,\n\ndiscretionary investment manager, expert witness or other advisor;\n\n7. Prepare, execute, and file a record, report or other\n\ndocument to safeguard or promote the principal's interest under a\n\nstatute or regulation;\n\n8. Communicate with any representative or employee of a\n\ngovernment or governmental subdivision, agency or instrumentality,\n\non behalf of the principal;\n\n9. Access communications intended for, and communicate on\n\nbehalf of, the principal, whether by mail, electronic transmission,\n\ntelephone or other means; and\n\n10.
