In this section, \"benefits from governmental programs or\n\ncivil or military service\" means any benefit, program or assistance\n\nprovided under a statute or regulation including Social Security,\n\nMedicare and Medicaid.\n\nB. Unless the power of attorney otherwise provides, language in\n\na power of attorney granting general authority with respect to\n\nbenefits from governmental programs or civil or military service\n\nauthorizes the agent to:\n\n1. Execute vouchers in the name of the principal for allowances\n\nand reimbursements payable by the United States or a foreign\n\ngovernment or by a state or subdivision of a state to the principal,\n\nincluding allowances and reimbursements for transportation of the\n\nindividuals described in paragraph 1 of subsection A of Section 36\n\nof this act and for shipment of their household effects;\n\n2. Take possession and order the removal and shipment of\n\nproperty of the principal from a post, warehouse, depot, dock or\n\nother place of storage or safekeeping, either governmental or\n\nprivate, and execute and deliver a release, voucher, receipt, bill\n\nof lading, shipping ticket, certificate or other instrument for that\n\npurpose;\n\n3. Enroll in, apply for, select, reject, change, amend or\n\ndiscontinue, on the principal's behalf, a benefit or program;\n\n4. Prepare, file and maintain a claim of the principal for a\n\nbenefit or assistance, financial or otherwise, to which the\n\nprincipal may be entitled under a statute or regulation;\n\n5. Initiate, participate in or submit to alternative dispute\n\nresolution, settle, oppose, or propose or accept a compromise with\n\nrespect to litigation concerning any benefit or assistance the\n\nprincipal may be entitled to receive under a statute or regulation;\n\nand\n\n6.
