Stat. tit. 58, § 58-394","heading":"Discharge and release upon payment or delivery of property","body":"by affidavit.\n\nThe person paying, delivering, transferring, or issuing personal\n\nproperty or the evidence thereof to the successor or successors\n\nnamed in the affidavit is discharged and released to the same extent\n\nas if the person dealt with a personal representative of the\n\ndecedent. Such person is not required to inquire into the truth of\n\nany statement in the affidavit. If any person to whom an affidavit\n\nis delivered refuses to pay, deliver, transfer, or issue any\n\npersonal property or evidence thereof, it may be recovered or its\n\npayment, delivery, transfer, or issuance compelled upon proof of\n\ntheir right in a proceeding brought for the purpose by or on behalf\n\nof the persons entitled thereto.
