Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1016","heading":"Municipal plumbing inspector - Combining plumbing","body":"inspector and electrical inspector.\n\nA. Each city or incorporated town with a population of two\n\nthousand (2,000) or more in the state, having a system of water\n\nsupply or sewerage shall by ordinance, within ninety (90) days after\n\nthe effective date of this act, create an office of plumbing\n\ninspector, whose duty it shall be to inspect all plumbing installed\n\nin the jurisdiction of such city or town, and shall furnish a\n\ncertificate of same. Said plumbing inspector shall have had not\n\nless than three (3) years' practical experience at the plumbing\n\nbusiness, and shall not be interested, either directly or\n\nindirectly, in any firm or corporation engaged in the plumbing\n\nbusiness.\n\nB. Any city or town in this state, with a population in excess\n\nof four thousand (4,000) but not exceeding thirty thousand (30,000),\n\nmay create an office which combines the powers and duties of the\n\nplumbing inspector and the electrical inspector. Except as\n\notherwise provided in this subsection, the holder of such office\n\nmust have at least three (3) years' practical experience in the\n\nplumbing industry and three (3) years' practical experience in the\n\nelectrical industry. Any such city or town may, in its discretion,\n\nappoint some other person deemed qualified for such office if such\n\nperson, within two (2) years after the date of appointment,\n\nsuccessfully passes the examination for a license as a plumbing\n\ninspector and the examination for a license as an electrical\n\ninspector conducted by a recognized national building code or\n\nstandard service. Cities or towns with a population of four\n\nthousand (4,000) or less may, in their discretion, appoint some\n\nother person deemed qualified for the office.
