Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1033","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Inspectors Act:\n\n1. \"Board\" means the Construction Industries Board;\n\n2. \"Committee\" means the Oklahoma Inspector Examiners\n\nCommittee;\n\n3. \"Building and construction inspection\" means the inspection\n\nof plumbing, electrical, mechanical or structural aspects of\n\nbuilding and construction, for the purpose of enforcing compliance\n\nwith the applicable building codes or standards;\n\n4. \"Building and construction inspector\" means any person\n\nactively engaged in the inspection of any phase of building and\n\nconstruction for the purpose of enforcing compliance with the\n\napplicable building codes or standards and includes, but is not\n\nlimited to, plumbing inspectors, electrical inspectors, mechanical\n\ninspectors and structural building inspectors;\n\n5. \"Building official\" means the licensed employee code\n\nofficial having the duty to administer and the authority to enforce\n\nbuilding codes in the political subdivision;\n\n6. \"Certification\" means successful passage of an examination\n\nby a Committee-approved national certification program in a license\n\ncategory pursuant to the Oklahoma Inspectors Act;\n\n7. \"Circuit rider inspector\" means a person who acts as a\n\nbuilding and construction inspector for two or more municipalities\n\nor other political subdivisions and is certified and licensed\n\npursuant to the Oklahoma Inspectors Act;\n\n8. \"Inactive building and construction inspector\" means a\n\npreviously licensed building and construction inspector, having\n\nsuccessfully passed an examination by a Committee-approved national\n\ncertification program, who does not meet all requirements of the\n\nOklahoma Inspectors Act to perform building and construction\n\ninspections pursuant to the Oklahoma Inspectors Act until all\n\nrequirements are met;\n\n9. \"Provisional license\" means a license issued to a building\n\nand construction inspector who is an employee of a political\n\nsubdivision on a provisional basis and limited to a maximum of one\n\n(1) year in each license category for the purpose of enabling an\n\napplicant to meet the certification requirements;\n\n10. \"Report writer\" means any person recognized by a political\n\nsubdivision having managerial and superintending control over\n\nbuilding codes as a report writer for purposes of furnishing report-\n\nwriting services on behalf of the building official. This person\n\nmust be approved by the building official or designated code\n\nofficial, provided he or she has no conflict of interest and\n\nsatisfies the requirements of the political subdivision as to\n\nqualifications, ethical standards and reliability in the process and\n\nservices. The individual's furnished written reports shall be\n\nprovided and acceptable to the building official, designated code\n\nofficial or political subdivision for final code evaluation; and\n\n11. \"Authorized provider\" means one who is not a governmental\n\nemployee but an independent contractor who is recognized by a\n\npolitical subdivision that issues building permits and who meets the\n\nrequirements under the Oklahoma Inspectors Act and rules promulgated\n\non the requirements of such licensure.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"52707cbe37778e727f66dbb90282ffb3bc47fc0737e632ff4f2857c782e410d4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1032","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1034"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
