Except as otherwise provided in the Waterworks and\n\nWastewater Works Operator Certification Act, it shall be unlawful:\n\n1. For any person to employ or appoint or vote for or approve\n\nthe employment or appointment of any person as an operator of a\n\nwaterworks or wastewater works who does not possess a valid current\n\ncertificate issued under the Waterworks and Wastewater Works\n\nOperator Certification Act, which certifies the operator's\n\ncompetency to operate a waterworks or wastewater works for which the\n\noperator is employed or appointed as operator; or to employ or\n\nappoint a person as an operator of a waterworks or wastewater works\n\nor vote for or approve the employment or appointment of any person\n\nas an operator of a waterworks or wastewater works contrary to the\n\nterms and conditions of the certificate held by such person;\n\n2. For any person to be the operator of a waterworks or\n\nwastewater works for the operation of which the person does not hold\n\na required certificate, or to be the operator of any waterworks or\n\nwastewater works contrary to any of the terms and conditions of the\n\noperator's certificate; or\n\n3. For any person to violate any rule or order made under the\n\nauthority of the Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operator\n\nCertification Act or any certificate issued pursuant thereto.\n\nB. Paragraphs 1 and 2 of subsection A of this section shall\n\napply to a waterworks or wastewater works employing a superintendent\n\nof the waterworks or wastewater works who has not obtained the\n\nproper level of certification within six (6) months of employment as\n\nsuperintendent. The Environmental Quality Board may, by rule, limit\n\nthe number of times this six-month exemption is available to a\n\nwaterworks and wastewater works.\n\nC. The provisions of this section shall not affect the practice\n\nof engineering by a professional engineer.\n\nD. A plumber licensed pursuant to the Plumbing License Law of\n\n1955 shall not be required to hold any waterworks or wastewater\n\noperator certificate in order to make connections to public water\n\nsystems or lines or sewer systems or lines.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"9a49c974d975936abc722ca13f5bdc332216fbb7f80446eee5c4569fc24988a7","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1105","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1107"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
