Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1151.25a","heading":"Residential roofing endorsement — Requirements —","body":"Examination.\n\nA. Except as otherwise provided in the Roofing Contractor\n\nRegistration Act, on and after the effective date of this act, every\n\nroofing contractor, except for those defined in subsection G of this\n\nsection, offering to engage in or engaging in performing residential\n\nroofing contractor work in this state shall be required to receive a\n\nresidential roofing endorsement. To receive a residential roofing\n\nendorsement, the roofing contractor shall be required to take and\n\nsuccessfully pass a residential roofing examination approved under\n\nthe provisions of this act with a minimum score of seventy percent\n\n(70%), and be in compliance with all other provisions of this act\n\nand rules before acting or being endorsed as a residential roofing\n\ncontractor. For applicants who have been registered and in good\n\nstanding with the Construction Industries Board on the effective\n\ndate of this act, there shall be a twelve-month grandfathering-in\n\nperiod from the effective date of this act to either pass the exam\n\nor complete an additional ten (10) hours of continuing education\n\ncredits approved in advance by the Committee of Roofing Examiners to\n\nbe granted a residential roofer endorsement. Any applicant who has\n\nbeen registered, is in good standing with the Board, and possesses a\n\ncurrent commercial roofer endorsement on the effective date of this\n\nact shall be exempt from the residential roofing examination and\n\nadditional ten (10) hours of continuing education credits required\n\nto receive a residential roofing endorsement.\n\nB. Examinations for a residential roofer endorsement shall be\n\nuniform and practical in nature and sufficiently strict to test the\n\nqualifications and fitness of the applicants for endorsement.\n\nExaminations shall be in whole or in part in writing. Examinations\n\nshall be offered at least monthly; dates, times, and locations shall\n\nbe determined by the registrar or third-party vendor with approval\n\nof the registrar.\n\nC. Any applicant initially failing to pass the examination\n\nshall not be permitted to take another examination for a period of\n\nthirty (30) days. Any applicant subsequently failing to pass the\n\nexamination shall not be permitted to take another examination for a\n\nperiod of ninety (90) days. However, in a declared state of\n\nemergency, the examination shall be available as often as possible\n\nas determined by the registrar.\n\nD. No residential roofer endorsement shall be renewed unless\n\nthe qualifying party has completed the required hours of continuing\n\neducation pursuant to subsection A of this section.\n\nE. For all new applicants not registered and in good standing\n\nwith the Construction Industries Board prior to the effective date\n\nof this act, the Construction Industries Board shall issue a\n\nresidential roofer endorsement to qualifying applicants no sooner\n\nthan thirty (30) days from the date of successful completion of the\n\nexam. New applicants shall not be allowed to sell, offer, bid,\n\ninspect, or perform any residential roofing contractor work in this\n\nstate until a residential roofer endorsement is issued.\n\nF. For all applicants registered and in good standing with the\n\nConstruction Industries Board prior to the effective date of this\n\nact:\n\n1. The residential roofer endorsement shall be issued\n\nimmediately upon compliance with the provisions of this section; and\n\n2. Applicants shall be allowed to continue residential roofing\n\ncontractor work at all times during the residential roofer\n\nendorsement application process.\n\nG. The residential roofing endorsement shall not apply to\n\nroofing labor contractors who:\n\n1. Only provide roofing construction labor services;\n\n2. Are working directly for a registered roofing contractor\n\nthat possesses a residential roofing endorsement; and\n\n3.
