Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1261.1a","heading":"License renewal - Continuing education -","body":"Reapplication.\n\nA. Licensees shall be required to renew their license at such\n\ntime and in such manner established by the State Board of Licensed\n\nSocial Workers by rule, including the form of application and\n\npayment of the applicable renewal fee. Under no circumstances shall\n\nthe renewal period exceed two (2) years.\n\nB. As a requirement for license renewal, each licensee shall\n\nprovide evidence satisfactory to the Board that such licensee has\n\nannually completed at least sixteen (16) hours of a program of\n\ncontinuing education as prescribed by the Board.\n\nC. The Board shall also provide procedures by rule to ensure\n\nthat license renewal candidates maintain the qualifications to\n\npractice social work, as set forth in this act.\n\nD. If a social worker fails to make application to the Board\n\nfor renewal of a license within a period of ninety (90) days after\n\nthe expiration of the license, such person must reapply as an\n\ninitial applicant for licensure and pass the current licensure\n\nexamination; however, a person who has been licensed under the laws\n\nof this state and the license has expired, but who has continually\n\npracticed social work in another state under a license issued by the\n\nauthority of such state, may renew the license upon completion of\n\nthe continuing education requirements set forth by the Board and\n\npayment of the designated fee.\n\nE. Any licensee who allows their license to expire after\n\nJanuary 1, 2012, shall, in addition to any other requirements for\n\nreinstatement, be required to submit to a national criminal history\n\nrecord check as defined by Section 150.9 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes, and pay the fee for the record check. However, the\n\nindividual shall be allowed to practice with the expired license\n\npending receipt by the Board of a complete and satisfactory national\n\ncriminal history record check. If the Board does not receive two\n\nclassifiable sets of fingerprints taken by a local, state or federal\n\nlaw enforcement agency or a civilian entity approved by the Oklahoma\n\nState Bureau of Investigation and the required fee within thirty\n\n(30) days from the date the license was reinstated, the license\n\nshall be suspended until receipt by the Board of the sets of\n\nfingerprints and the fee for the record check.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cddef92171b18fc26c8e6e8d781ff8e95d0c37a883879d96af48be6a36cf3353","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1261.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1261.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
