Stat. tit. 59, § 59-1261.6","heading":"Information confidential - Disclosure","body":"No person licensed under the provisions of the Social Worker's\n\nLicensing Act or secretary, stenographer or clerk of such a licensed\n\nperson or anyone who participates in delivery of social work\n\nservices or anyone working under supervision of a person licensed\n\nunder these provisions may disclose any information acquired from\n\npersons consulting the licensed social worker in his or her\n\nprofessional capacity or be compelled to disclose such information.\n\nThe confidential relations and communications between a person\n\nlicensed under this act and the client are placed on the same basis\n\nas provided by law for those between an attorney and client.\n\nNothing in the Social Worker's Licensing Act shall be construed to\n\nrequire such privileged communication to be disclosed except:\n\n1. With the written consent of the client, or in the case of\n\ndeath or disability, of his or her personal representative, other\n\nperson authorized to sue, or the beneficiary of any insurance policy\n\non his or her life, health or physical condition;\n\n2. That no information shall be treated as privileged and there\n\nshall be no privilege created by this act as to any information\n\nacquired by a person licensed under this act or a secretary,\n\nstenographer or clerk of such a licensed person or anyone who\n\nparticipates in delivery of social work services or anyone working\n\nunder the supervision of such a licensed person when such\n\ninformation pertains to criminal acts or violations of any law;\n\n3. When the person is a child under the age of eighteen (18)\n\nyears and the information acquired by the licensed person indicated\n\nthat the child was the victim or subject of a crime, the licensed\n\nperson may be required to testify fully in relation thereto upon any\n\nexamination, trial or other proceeding in which the commission of\n\nsuch a crime is a subject of inquiry; or\n\n4. When the person waives the privilege by bringing charges\n\nagainst the licensed person.\n\nNothing in this act shall be construed to prohibit any licensed\n\nperson from testifying in court hearings concerning matters of\n\nadoption, child abuse, child neglect, or matters pertaining to the\n\nwelfare of children or from seeking collaboration or consultation\n\nwith professional colleagues or administrative superiors on behalf\n\nof the client.","path":["OK Code","Title 59"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os59.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"388bad5a9da44e53667d2f5ab090d7d32c0d7cae839b1ff6b4a009e10885f245","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1261.5","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-59-59-1262"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
